About the Event

As arts leaders and educators, how do we recruit for excellence in today’s changing landscape? YoungArts is bringing together leaders in arts education for a discussion on expanding and sustaining healthy recruitment for the next generation of artists and arts educators; what leading art schools are looking for in their students; and the evolution of expectations in recent years.

Moderated by Carla Hill* (Ransom Everglades, Miami), with Francesca Harper* (Ailey II, New York), Dr. Jeffrey Hodgson (New World School of the Arts, Miami), and Michael McElroy* (University of Michigan School of Music, Ann Arbor), speakers will address issues including equity, the pandemic and standardized testing, and their effects on encouraging new conversations and opportunities to support arts students. The talk will be followed by a Q & A.

This panel discussion is a part of the 2022 National YoungArts Week+ Educator Experience. Join us nightly January 29 – February 4 at 8 PM ET for National YoungArts Week+ , a seven-part series of free virtual performances, writers’ readings, an exhibition and more. Learn more and register for updates >>
