About the Event
Described by The Wall Street Journal as a “moving and electrifying performer,” award winning singer, songwriter, pianist, and historian Nia Drummond (2012 Voice) is a Brooklyn-born artist whose work lives at the crossroads of tradition and transformation. Her voice moves fluidly through opera, jazz, soul, gospel and spirituals genres that form a living archive of Black musical expression. Whether on a concert stage or in a sacred space, Nia performs with a clear sense of purpose: to remember, to reclaim, and to reimagine.
Curated by Drummond — “the First Lady of the Apollo Stages,” fresh off a sold-out show at the iconic Apollo Theater — this night highlights Black artists across the diaspora who built the sound of this country from the ground up. Joined by an ensemble of special guests, the stage becomes a living, breathing conversation. Expect stories, deep cuts, and moments that feel like church, like home.
