In December 2021, Chris Rogerson (2007 Classical Music) collaborated with Nu Deco Ensemble to premiere his new composition, “Sacred Earth,” at Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts with support from YoungArts. Presented with video by Emmy-nominated director and National Geographic photographer Keith Ladzinski and vocals from super-star mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges, the performance conveyed Rogerson’s vision for the work as “a simple, beautiful ode to nature and our relationship to nature.”
In an interview prior to the performance, Rogerson shared about key steps in his career journey and the support that brought him to this point: “I’ve been really fortunate to have wonderful mentors throughout my musical journey and I’m happy it took me here this week… For any musician, there are certain inflection points along the way, and YoungArts was one of those inflection points.”
